Ceramic Arts Studio Collectors' Convention Set For Saturday, Aug. 22

June 8, 2015

This year is the Diamond Jubilee of Madison's Ceramic Arts Studio, which opened its doors in the fall of 1940. To mark the occasion, CAS Collectors, the club for all those with an interest in the work of CAS, is throwing an extra-special party. The theme of the group's 2015 Convention, set for Saturday, Aug. 22, in Madison, Wis., will be "Call of the Wild!" Collectors at the "biggest and best party of them all" will celebrate the enduring appeal of Ceramic Arts figurines, particularly the merry menagerie of CAS animals. The studio's ceramics brightened homes from coast to coast during the 1940s and '50s, and continue to brighten hearts today.
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 22, convention attendees will take in the Wisconsin Pottery Association Show and Sale at the Alliant Energy Center. Later, all will gather at Madison's Howard Johnson Plaza for the convention festivities, with activities and décor centered around a fun-filled "wild kingdom" theme. There'll be party favors, take-home souvenirs, door prizes and colorful zoo-themed centerpieces.
Getting the evening underway will be a social hour and the popular "CAS on Display Contest." All in attendance are invited to submit entries. A buffet dinner, raffle, and membership meeting will be followed by the club's annual auction, featuring professional auctioneer Shirley Baumann. Events will conclude with door prizes and the presentation of the 2015 CAS Collectors Commemorative.
Convention registration, which remains at $60 per person, includes all evening activities, plus the commemorative. Forms and additional information are available on the club's website, www.cascollectors.com, or by writing, CAS Collectors, 206 Grove Street, Rockton, Ill. 61072.
Celebrate the heritage of Ceramic Arts Studio, and take a stroll down memory lane as ceramics collectors gather for the 2015 CAS Collectors Convention. It's the "Call of the Wild," and it's more fun than a barrel of monkeys!
