Cordier's Winter Auction To Feature Ethnographic And Modern Art

Two-Day Catalog Sale Also Showcases Tiffany Grapevine Lamp And Fine Furnishings

Cordier's Antique and Fine Art Auction in Harrisburg, Pa., on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 20 and 21, is to feature a rare Tiffany Grapevine table lamp with Lily Pad base (est. $8,000-$12,000), the Saul and Florence Putterman collection of modern and ethnographic art, and fine furnishings and art from a King's Point, N.Y. estate.
The Putterman collection of Sarasota, Fla., is highlighted by a Northwest Coast Kwakiutl Hamatsu Raven mask (est. $3,000-$5,000) and a ceremonial face mask from Guranshi, Ghana (est. $2,000-$4,000), both of which were purchased at the Segy Gallery in New York over 30 years ago. Also featured will be a colored lithograph printer's proof by Shusaku Arakawa (Japanese 1936-2010) from “The Mechanism of Meaning” (est. $1,000-$3,000) as well as a two-paneled sculpture by Florence Putterman titled "Totems" that was exhibited in a one-woman show (est. $1,500-3,000). Putterman's art is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, The Chicago Art Institute, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C., as well as other institutions.
Furnishings and fine art from the King's Point, N.Y., estate of a patron of the arts will include an Italian glazed door curio cabinet (est. $1,000-$1,500) and a polychrome Arts and Crafts chair table (est. $400-$600). Artwork is highlighted by a watercolor by Marie Laurencin (French, 1883-1956) which will be estimated at $4,000-$8,000 and the 78-inch bronze sculpture "Moonlight Dancer" by Prince Monyo (American/Romanian, b. 1926) estimated at $2,000-$3,000.
In jewelry, a 3.6 ctw diamond and sapphire Art Deco bracelet (est. $1,000-$1,500) and a GIA graded 1.10 carat yellow diamond (est. $2,000-$4,000) will be offered. A 4.378 carat ruby and diamond ring (est. $8,000-$12,000) will also cross the block. Gold coins will include a gold 1801 capped bust $10 (est. $10,000-$15,000), and an 1877-S $20 (est. $1,000-$1,500).
