Lone Ranger Impersonator Collection To Be Sold At Alderfer's

November 10, 2016

Who is that masked man? Alderfer’s Auctioneers and Appraisers will sell the collection of Chuck Medwork, Lone Ranger impersonator, on Monday, Nov. 21, in an online-only auction.
Chuck Medwork is a present-day Lone Ranger impersonator, holding presentations in countless reenactments, as well as appearing in Rose Bowl parades and Phillies pre-game shows. He also produced a movie, titled “Cowboys of Yesteryear.” Over the years, Medwork has acquired a noteworthy biography and an impressive assortment of collectables. This collection of unique items, from the past and present, includes a dozen mannequins, two life-size horses, saddles, harness, guns, action figures and Native American items.
The Lone Ranger was the highest-rated television program on ABC in the early 1950s and the network’s first true "hit show." The concept of the Lone Ranger dates back to 1949, when the American Western televisions series first aired. Clayton Moore was the original Lone Ranger in the television series and was known for taking the role to heart. Characteristics of the Lone Ranger role followed into his personal life.
The fictional story line maintains that a patrol of six Texas Rangers are massacred, except for one. The "lone" survivor thereafter disguises himself with a black mask and travels with a Native American sidekick, Tonto. They wandered from Texas throughout the American West to assist those challenged by the lawless elements. A silver mine supplied “The Lone Ranger” with the name of his horse, as well as the funds and bullets required to finance his nomadic lifestyle. “A fiery horse with the speed of light – a cloud of dust and a hearty hi-yo silver! The Lone Ranger rides again,” was the mantra of the show.
