Collectors, break out of the summer slowdown with Pook & Pook Inc.’s two-day Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 14 and 15, decorative arts online only sales. Offering a combined total of over 1,200 lots, these two sale days will be chock full of a variety of unique items that are accessible to enthusiasts on any budget.
Wednesday, Sept. 14, kicks off with over 60 lots of spatterware china. Country and folk items shine in this auction, which includes large amounts of ironwork, toleware, stoneware, chalkware, and painted items. Pook & Pook Inc. will also offer furniture, artwork, and over 50 lots of quilts, including several Amish and early 20th century examples.
Thursday, Sept. 15, takes on a different tone with a large assortment of sterling silver. The over 100 lots include a lovely Tiffany & Co. silver tea kettle and stand as well as multiple tea sets and other tablewares. The silver is followed by several fine jewelry pieces and a group of unique book offerings. Bidders can purchase classic first editions and signed works by Mark Twain, Ernest Hemingway, John Steinbeck, George Bernard Shaw, Joseph Conrad, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Edna St. Vincent Millay, and Charles Dickens. The sale finishes up with a group of match safes, or vesta cases, of which Pook & Pook Inc. has featured many large groupings over the past year. These interesting cases capture the imagination of collectors for their diverse forms and bygone tradition.
