Pook & Pook Will Hold Its First Coin Auction On March 30
The sale draws its strength predominately from the estate of discerning collector Cortlandt Fowler Sr. of New York. Fowler's impressive, fully-graded collection is featured in the first 201 lots. The sale begins with a large portion of Fowler's gold coins. Highlights include an 1863 Indian Princess $3 coin (NGC AU-58), an 1862 Liberty Head $10 coin (NGC AU-53), and an 1861 Liberty Head $20 coin (NGC MS-60). A 1923 St. Gaudens $20 coin (ICG MS-64) stands out amongst the higher denomination gold pieces.
The Fowler Collection also offers a quality selection of Morgan silver dollars. An 1893 (PCGS MS-63), 1889 CC (NGC AU-55), and an 1879 CC, capped die example (PCGS MS-62) will keep the sale's momentum going throughout the morning. Other coin enthusiasts have contributed to the auction offerings as well, rounding out the sale with a variety of United States Proof Sets, Mint Sets, and foreign coins.
A gallery preview for the coin auction is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, from noon to 5 p.m.; Wednesday, March 25, through Friday, March 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and on Saturday, March 28, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., before Pook & Pook Inc.'s International Furniture, Fine Art and Accessories sale.
