Results From Gateway's Memorial Day Sale

The Gateway Gallery Auction facility in Chambersburg, Pa., held a Memorial Day sale on May 25 featuring a variety of decorative and architectural items, with European and Asian material taking the spotlight.
A framed drawing on paper by Wassily Kandinsky brought $3,100. Kandinsky (1866-1944) was a Russian painter and known for abstract work. A small celadon jade dragon figure sold for $2,100. A pair of Louis XVI-style chairs sold for $800; a pair of mirrored wall sconces sold for $525; and a copper and brass lantern-style hanging light sold for $625.
A Chinese jardinere sold for $1,200; a Chinese Chippendale table sold for $675; and a pair of cast-iron garden urns (date of origin unknown) sold for $540.
