Rhoads And Rhoads Ends 2014 With a High Powered Sale
Along with the cars, the Black Friday sale sparkled with gold and gems. A 2.5-carat diamond engagement ring sold for double its estimate, bringing $23,000.
Also included in this auction was the estate of Harvey Funderwhite of Eagle, Pa. Among the antiques from the estate was a miniature painted blanket chest, which sold for $3,068; a walnut high chest of drawers in original finish that sold for $7,345; a cast iron Mr. Peanut fence sitter figure, which brought $3,245; and a grain painted drysink, which sold for $1,535.
In the music box category, a standing Regina changer sold for $15,930. Paintings from the Frank Beverage family of Philadelphia sold well, with a Emil Grau Paris scene bringing $15,930. The buyer was a museum in Israel. Another highlight was a large, three-dimensional Aaron Zook folk art carving/diorama selling for $10,620.
