Special Valentine's Day Display And Sale To Be Held

Historic Burlington Antique And Art Emporium Will Hold Numerous Specials

January 22, 2016

The month of February is known for various things, including Groundhog Day, Ash Wednesday, Presidents' Day, and the most romantic day of the year, Valentine's Day. Approximately one billion Valentine's Day cards are exchanged annually, making Valentine's Day the second most popular card-sending holiday after Christmas. Valentine greetings can be traced back to the Middle Ages.
The oldest known valentine still in existence today was a poem written in 1415 by Charles, Duke of Orleans, to his wife while he was imprisoned in the Tower of London. His greeting is part of the manuscript collection of the British library in London, England. During the middle of the 18th century it was common for friends and lovers to exchange small tokens of affection or handwritten notes. By 1900, printed cards began to replace written letters due to improvement in printing technology and the cheaper postage rates.
In honor of Valentine's Day, the Historic Burlington Antique and Art Emporium for the month of February will offer customers a valentine or heart with any purchase, and a chance to win a dealer discount, gift certificate, and tasty treat. The Emporium display case will be filled with early valentines, candy dishes, vases (for roses), and also items honoring U.S. Presidents.
For all romantics, the Emporium offers many large quantities of antique and vintage jewelry. The Emporium offers complimentary coffee and snacks to enhance the shopping experience. It is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours until 7 p.m. on Thursdays. The Emporium is located at 424 High St., Burlington City, N.J.
