August 13, 2013

The Pennsylvania Trappers’ Association, District 8, affiliated with the National Trapper’s Association, Fur Takers of America, Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs, Pennsylvanians for the Responsible Use of Animals, and the Pennsylvania Outdoors Writers Association, will host its 35th annual Sporting and Collectible Show, the Tuscarora Valley Extravaganza, on Friday, Sept. 13, and Saturday, Sept. 14. Show hours are Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Gates open at noon on Thursday for vendors to set up.
The event will be held at the Tuscarora Valley Heritage Grounds, 6201 Route 75 South, East Waterford, Pa., in Juniata County. The show moved from Marysville to East Waterford.
With lots of tailgaters and vendors (ample spaces available), this show has been getting bigger and better every year. The Pennsylvania Trappers’ Association is the oldest and largest nonprofit trapping organization in the country.
The funds raised are used for educational programs, trapper training schools, legislative initiatives and conservation programs.
The show and swap meet include everything from collector hunting licenses, fishing and trapping supplies, guns, archery items, black powder items, as well as a District 8 fundraiser auction at 2 p.m. Saturday. There will also be hunting and trapping seminars.
Primitive camping will be available on the grounds, in addition to food vendors. Dealer inquiries are welcome. For further information, contact Charles Filler Jr. at 717-953-2013 or Terry Swartz at 717-536-3733 or visit www.patrapper.com.
