The Grist Mill To Showcase Fenton Glass

July 7, 2015

After 100 years of operation, Fenton Glass is still proving to be a favorite among collectors far and wide. In fact, Kovels recently reported that it was the most searched for category on the company’s website for May of 2015. Whether old Fenton or new (it is still manufactured today), both can fetch premium prices. While the glass company’s current focus has shifted towards handcrafted beads and jewelry, the traditional styles of Vaseline, Opalescent and Vasa Murrhina remain highly collectible. At the Grist Mill Antiques Center in Pemberton, N.J., a display recognizing the popularity of Fenton has been put together for the month of July’s special display.
Fenton Glass is famous for several shapes, patterns, and textures, and this display brings the best of them together in one place. The Grist Mill invites shoppers to come in and see the exquisite assortment of whimsical Hobnail, elegant Milk Glass, sparkling Diamond, swanky Ruffled-edge Crest, playful Coin Dot, decorative Rib Optic, and sophisticated Melon shaped glassware. All the colors of Fenton are on display--from pink, green, blue, white (milk glass), cranberry, and violet--not to mention lovely handpainted patterns such as Violets in the Snow, Daisy and Fern, and Charleton Rose. The assortment includes powder jars, fan vases, epergnes, jack-in-the-pulpits, baskets, pitchers and much more.
Whether shoppers are seeking to collect some beauties for themselves or are looking for a unique gift for someone special, it is a truly spectacular display.
On the last Wednesday of each month, the Grist Mill hosts a Scavenger Hunt. Light refreshments are served, and lists are given out at 5 p.m. The person who finds the most items in the store will win a $25 gift certificate. Also, on Sunday, Oct. 18, the center will hold its Fall Flea Market. For additional information, call Barbara Lind at 609-726-1588.
The multi-dealer shop is located at 127 Hanover St. (Route 616) in Pemberton, N.J., and is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours until 8 p.m. each Wednesday.
