Rivertowne Celebrates 13 Years In Columbia, Pa.

June 15, 2017

It’s time to put up the balloons and hang the banner, as the Rivertowne Antique Center is celebrating its 13th birthday with a big anniversary sale on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, June 23, 24, and 25. The center is located along the banks of the Susquehanna River in historic Columbia, Pa. Co-owner Ron Madar said, “During our special weekend, we’ll be giving our customers great discounts of up to 40 percent on items throughout the store.”
Since opening in 2004, Rivertowne has gained the reputation for offering top-quality antiques set in the restored Bachman-Forry tobacco warehouse. It is home to 20 dealers displaying a vast selection of authentic 18th-, 19th-, and early-20th-century items including folk art, country furniture, Americana, primitives, glassware, stoneware, trade signs, general store items, and decorative smalls. “One of the reasons we’ve had success with our shop is that we haven’t outgrown ourselves. Many places get larger and can become impersonal,” said co-owner Georgia Townsend. “At Rivertowne, we greet every customer with a smile and a welcome. It always gets a pleasant response; people love shopping here.”
Relax in a comfortable, clean and well-lit atmosphere, and enjoy exploring the two floors stocked with treasures galore. There’s no better time to visit than during the three-day anniversary sale.
“We’re celebrating our 13th year in business thanks to our great group of dealers, their commitment to offer genuine antiques fairly priced and the support of a customer base that appreciates our merchandise,” continued Madar. “What we’ve seen lately is the younger generation coming in recognizing the utilitarian value of antiques for use in furnishing and decorating their home. That is very encouraging.”
Light refreshments will be served at the center’s café, which features the transplanted original 1930s counter and stools from the Sun restaurant in downtown Lancaster, Pa.
The Rivertowne Antique Center is conveniently located off Route 30. From the Columbia/Marietta exit, use the new Front Street/River Road downtown bypass or follow Third Street into town, turn right on Locust Street, go a block and a half, and turn left on Bank Avenue. The address is 125 Bank Ave., Columbia. There is free parking, Visa and MasterCard are accepted, and gift certificates, layaway, and shipping are available.
